Why do people want to own guns? Knowing that gun owners use it for different reasons, there won’t be a definite answer to this question. But, there are specific scientific explanations that might help in understanding the psychology behind people who want to own guns.
Protection – this could be the primary reason for most gun owners. Similar to security cameras and large dogs, guns provide protection to people against intruders or bad people. This statement might result in an argument but gun owners think that it is just moral and fair. But unfortunately, this reason is being abused by criminals and offenders associated with gun-related crimes. If you send to jail because of some gun-related crime, then it is already obvious why you need a gun, but still, you’d make protection the primary reason for owning a gun.
